How our free GATE material is made and checked

Where it comes from, how every answer is checked against the official key, and how to tell us about an error.

What we publish

A free study library of GATE previous-year questions, each with a worked solution, plus topic notes, formula sheets and practice questions; whole-paper pages that list every question of a paper with its official answer; the GATE Guide on how the exam works; preparation articles; and Briefs on admissions, cut-offs and recruitment.

All of it is published by IAE Academy as an institute. Pages do not carry a personal byline.

Where it comes from

Question papers and answer keys are the organising institutes' own documents (the IITs and IISc that run each GATE year). Rules, dates and syllabi come from the official GATE Information Brochure and syllabus PDFs. Admission and cut-off figures come from the institutes' own pages and reports.

The study library and the paper pages use only the organisers' own papers and keys, never a coaching-institute copy; where the only copy of a paper we could find is not the organiser's own, that paper is left out.

Articles and Briefs list their sources, with the date each was read.

How every answer is checked

Every published answer is compared with the organising institute's official answer key each time the site is built, and the build stops if any answer disagrees: the exact options for multiple-choice and multiple-select questions, the official range for numerical answers. (A question the institute marked 'marks to all' has no single answer to compare against, and its page says so.)

Where we cannot confirm a solution against the key, the question is shown with the official answer only. Where the organising institute awarded marks to all candidates, the page says so.

In the study library, syllabus text is quoted from the official PDF, with any omission marked by an ellipsis, and checked against it when the site is built; every formula is typeset at build time and checked for errors.

What is our own reading

Topic and subject labels on previous-year questions are IAE's filing of each question, not the organising institute's classification. Counts of what has been asked describe past papers; they are not forecasts.

Where an article gives IAE's own advice, it says so.

Corrections

If you find an error, email hello@iaeacademy.in (all our contact details are on the contact page) with the page link and what you believe is wrong. We check it against the source and correct the page.

We update a Brief's date only after re-reading its sources.
