Previous-year papers are the closest thing to a preview of your exam. GATE EE reuses the same concepts and question formats year after year, and the relative weight of subjects like Power Systems, Machines and Control barely shifts. Solving several years of papers is how you turn that consistency into a scoring advantage.

Then analyse: map every wrong answer to its topic, revise it, and re-test yourself with the next paper. The subjects that keep costing you marks are your priority list. Paper after paper, that steady loop is what moves you from prepared to ranked.
Frequently asked questions
Do these GATE EE papers come with answer keys or solutions?+
Three of them do. The 2018, 2020 and 2022 papers carry the organising institute’s own answer key, appended at the end of the question paper: a table giving, for all 65 questions, the question type, the section, and either the correct option or the accepted numerical range. That is the official key, not a coaching solution — it states the accepted answer and nothing more, so there are no worked steps or explanations in any Drive file. The remaining Drive files carry questions only. The study library has one page per paper for 2018, 2020 and 2022–2026, with each question's official answer and, where solved, its worked solution. They are linked from the year list above. The 2021 file is scanned rather than digital text, so its contents cannot be searched — open it to see what it contains.
Which years does this GATE EE set cover?+
Eight papers across 2018 to 2026. GATE 2019 is not in this set — the years present are 2018, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026.
Where can I get the missing GATE EE 2019 paper?+
From the official source. The GATE 2027 Information Brochure states that question papers from previous GATE exams, 2007 to 2026, can be downloaded from the Downloads tab of the GATE 2027 website (page 26). The same website also carries the syllabus for the test papers, mock examination links and the virtual scientific calculator (page 22).
Has the GATE EE syllabus changed for 2027?+
No. Comparing the official GATE 2026 and GATE 2027 syllabus PDFs paper by paper, Electrical Engineering has no listing change at all — it is one of the two papers IAE Academy teaches that did not change, alongside Data Science and AI. That comparison covers 2026 against 2027 only, so it does not establish how the syllabus read in the earlier years these papers were set; check anything unfamiliar in an older paper against the 2027 PDF before assuming it still applies. What marking scheme applies when I sit one of these papers?+
The 2027 scheme is the one to use. Every test paper is three hours, 65 questions and 100 marks; General Aptitude is 10 questions and 15 marks, made up of 5 one-mark and 5 two-mark questions, and in EE the remaining 85 marks are the subject component, of which Engineering Mathematics carries 13 (brochure, pages 4 and 24). A wrong 1-mark MCQ deducts 1/3 and a wrong 2-mark MCQ deducts 2/3; MSQ and NAT carry no negative marking; no question carries partial marking.
