CCMT 2026 Closing Scores for GATE BT
In CCMT 2026, 103 programme groups at 36 institutes accepted GATE BT, each only with particular qualifying degrees. For OPEN candidates, closing scores after the three regular rounds ran from 596 down to 350. A closing score is the lowest score allotted a seat in the three regular rounds, not a guarantee or a forecast.
Updated 4 October 2026 · Valid until 30 April 2027
All 103 programme groups in CCMT's 2026 mapping that accept GATE BT (at 36 institutes), highest OPEN closing score first. A dash means the report has no row for that category in Rounds 1 to 3, not that the group has no seats.

Each "Closing" figure is therefore the lowest of the report's Min GATE Scores for Rounds 1, 2 and 3 in that category, the lowest score at which it shows a regular-round allotment; "Round 1 opening" is its Max GATE Score for Round 1, OPEN only. 12 of these 103 groups have no Round 2 or Round 3 figures, so in every category where they have figures, the closing score is Round 1's. Rounds 2 and 3 are folded into the closing figure; their separate figures, the Special Rounds, the National Spot Round and the PwD categories are in CCMT's report. Source: IAE's count of the first table's "Closing, OPEN" column. The highest OPEN closing score was 596 (Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, Dual Degree M.Tech.- PhD in Bioinformatics); the lowest, 350 (2 groups); 2 groups closed at 350. In 58 of the 98 groups, the Special Rounds or the National Spot Round, which are left out, allotted an OPEN seat below the regular-round closing score. 5 programme groups have no OPEN figure in the regular rounds and are not counted. For other categories, use their columns in the first table.
About this resource
This is the GATE BT page of IAE Academy's CCMT guide. It lists every programme group that, in CCMT's 2026 mapping, accepts GATE BT (Biotechnology), with the scores CCMT's own report gives. A group's closing score covers every paper the group accepts, not only GATE BT. These are GATE scores, the figure on your scorecard, not marks or ranks. The overview, "CCMT 2026: opening and closing GATE scores for M.Tech seats", explains how CCMT works, its rounds and merit rule, and links the other papers' pages.
Each programme accepts a GATE paper only from students with certain degrees. CCMT's 2026 brochure says “For each programme, eligibility is defined based on certain combinations of degree- disciplines and GATE paper” (page 9), and that some institutes “have bifurcated the seats of some programmes in groups G1, G2, G3, etc. based on the required intake of degree disciplines” (page 34). So one programme can appear twice, as G1 and G2, with different scores, and a group that lists GATE BT may not take your degree. Before counting on a row, find that group in CCMT's “View Mapping of [Institute, Department, PG Program] VS [GATE Paper & Qualifying Degree]” page, linked from ccmt.admissions.nic.in, and read its Qualifying Degree column. The two-letter codes are GATE's paper codes (all 30 are listed on IAE's “GATE explained” page).
CCMT's report gives, for each round, programme group and category in which seats were allotted, a maximum and a minimum GATE score. It does not say what each round's figures cover; they appear to cover only the seats given in that round. So the table gives each group's closing score after the regular rounds, the lowest of its Min GATE Scores for Rounds 1, 2 and 3, and Round 1's Max as the opening score, for OPEN only. The report's note on the later rounds reads: “For Special Round-I, Round-II & National Spot Round : Opening and closing GATE score of those candidates who have been alloted a new seat or the previously allotted seat has been upgraded in category or Group” (the note does not say whether its “Round-II” is the second Special Round). This guide leaves out the two Special Rounds and the National Spot Round, which filled seats left vacant and often allotted them at lower scores.
For OPEN, no closing score is below 350: in the GATE score formula, 350 is the score of the General qualifying mark (the GATE 2027 brochure prints the formula, page 28; CCMT 2026 used 2024 to 2026 scores). 2 groups closed at 350. In 58 of the 98 groups with an OPEN closing score, the Special Rounds or the National Spot Round allotted an OPEN seat below it, so a score under a closing figure was not always shut out in 2026. A category's closing score is the lowest score allotted in that category in the regular rounds, so a reserved column can sit above the OPEN one; read your category's column and the OPEN column. These are 2026's figures, from 2026's applicants, choices and seats; none of them predicts 2027.
What's included
- ✓Every programme group in CCMT's 2026 mapping that accepts GATE BT, with every GATE paper it accepts
- ✓Each group's Round 1 opening score (OPEN) and its closing score after the regular rounds, by category (OPEN, OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST)
- ✓How many groups closed in each score band, for OPEN candidates
- ✓What the scores are and are not, and why eligibility depends on your degree as well as your paper
How to use this resource
Find your category's closing column. The table is sorted by the OPEN closing score, highest first. A dash means the report shows no allotment under that category label in Rounds 1 to 3; it does not mean the group has no seats, and it does not show where candidates of that category were placed.
For any row you would count on, open CCMT's “View Mapping of [Institute, Department, PG Program] VS [GATE Paper & Qualifying Degree]” page, linked from ccmt.admissions.nic.in, find the institute, programme and group, and check that it takes your qualifying degree with GATE BT: the paper list here is not your eligibility.
Treat a closing score as the lowest score allotted a seat in the three regular rounds, not as a guarantee: allotment also depends on your choices, your category and the seats, and the special rounds, left out here, often went lower. Compare the Round 1 opening score only with the OPEN closing score.
Then read the overview for the rounds, the merit rule and special eligibility.
Frequently asked questions
What were the CCMT 2026 closing scores for GATE BT?+
They depended on the programme group and category. For OPEN candidates, the closing score after the three regular rounds, among groups that accepted GATE BT, ran from 596 (Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad, Dual Degree M.Tech.- PhD in Bioinformatics) down to 350 (2 groups); of the 98 groups with an OPEN closing score, 0 closed at 700 or above and 0 at 600 to 699. Those counts are for OPEN; for your own category, use its column in the first table.
Is a 2026 closing score the score I will need in 2027?+
No. A closing score is the result of one year's applicants, choices and seats. CCMT 2027's will come from CCMT 2027's candidates; a 2026 figure is a guide to how competitive a programme was, not a target.
What are G1, G2 and G3 in CCMT?+
Groups of a programme's seats. CCMT's 2026 brochure says some institutes “have bifurcated the seats of some programmes in groups G1, G2, G3, etc. based on the required intake of degree disciplines”, and that eligibility is “based on certain combinations of degree- disciplines and GATE paper”. In the two Special Rounds, it says unfilled seats in G2, G3 and higher groups “will be converted into the lower numbered group in the same category”.
Can I use a GATE 2024 or 2025 score in CCMT?+
For CCMT 2026, yes: its brochure asks for “a valid GATE score of the year 2024 / 2025 / 2026”, and says merit “will be prepared based on the GATE score of the year filled by the candidate”. Check CCMT 2027's brochure for the years it accepts.
