Answer and solution

ANSWER

and , so leads by . Option (A).

Official answer: ASource: Official answer key, GATE 2025 IN (IIT Roorkee)

  1. All three admittances are in parallel across the same source, so each branch current is the source voltage times that branch's admittance: , , (Ohm's law in admittance form, ).

  2. Total current (admittances in parallel add): .

  3. Partial current: .

  4. Both currents carry the same factor , so their phase difference is just the difference of the two admittance angles: and .

  5. The same result with the source angle included (, ):

  6. Phase difference: . has the larger angle, so leads by , which is option (A).

KEY IDEA

Every branch sees the same voltage , so every current is times an admittance. The angle between any two of these currents is therefore the angle between the two admittances, . The of the source cancels out.

WATCH OUT FOR

Picking (options C or D). That is the angle of measured from , not from . Other slips are leaving out when forming , and reading the sign the wrong way round: is at the larger angle, so it leads .
