A Zener diode is used as a 4 V voltage regulator in the circuit shown. Given that the diode requires a minimum current of 4 mA for voltage regulation, the maximum current (in milliamperes) permitted to flow through the load is ________ (round off to one decimal place)

A 16 V DC voltage source on the left, positive terminal at the top. From the top of the source, a series resistor of 1200 Ω runs along the top wire to a node. From that node two branches go down to the common bottom wire. The first is the Zener diode (labelled 'Zener Diode'), drawn with its cathode (bent bar) at the top node and its anode at the bottom wire, so the source reverse-biases it. The second is the load resistor R_L on the far right, in parallel with the Zener. The bottom wire returns to the negative terminal of the 16 V source.
